Is Anon a woman

So many words lost to its rightful owner

From the mouths of no one, spoken and shared

I can only assume that Anon is a woman

and wiser words we have never heard

They remind us, inspire us, they make sense to our soul

we don’t know who first wrote them

we won’t every be told

I can only assume that Anon is a woman

and wiser words we will never have known

“Anon, who wrote so many poems without signing them, was often a woman.”

― Virginia Woolf, A Room of One’s Own

“For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don’t believe, no proof is possible.”  -Anon.

  1. When woman wrote science fiction, they would write under a man’s name because no-one would take a woman seriously. I don’t know whether that is true or just something I heard.

    1. I have heard that too. I watched the story of J K Rowling and the Harry Potter books and that is one of the reasons she chose her initials – her agents told her boys will never read a book like that written by a woman!

  2. Google female authors using male pseudonyms there are many. Take a look, it is all rather sad really.
